Our Story
Working with the current residents, Mi Casa, Inc. and Douglass Community Land Trust (Douglass CLT), purchased this building to prevent displacement and keep the units permanently affordable. The goal is to convert the rental units into a form of resident ownership that enables housing security and helps to build wealth for communities historically not given the opportunity through the traditional real estate market. There are currently three units occupied by artists, and we’re looking to add to this diverse and creative community.
Permanent Affordability
and Ownership
To keep the units permanently affordable, the land is owned by the community via the Douglass CLT, and leased to the building owner. Mi Casa currently owns the building and plans to transfer ownership to residents at a price affordable to those residents.
