A Limited Equity Co-op (LEC) is a group of members who own equal shares in a corporation that owns and manages the building they live in. Unlike many traditional homeownership options, you do not need a lot of money and you do not need to take out a loan to join a LEC. To learn more about LECs, watch this “Is a Co-op Right for You?” video.

Start a Co-op in Fairlawn
Become a Homeowner and Join a Community
Working with the current residents, Mi Casa, Inc. and Douglass Community Land Trust (Douglass CLT), purchased a building in the Fairlawn community to prevent displacement and keep the units there permanently affordable. We are currently working with the residents to convert the rental units into a form of resident ownership that enables housing security and helps to build wealth for communities historically not given the opportunity through the traditional real estate market.
There are currently three units occupied by artists, and we’re looking to add to this diverse and creative community. Apply to live in a one bedroom unit with den in a four-unit building in Fairlawn neighborhood, and join this community dedicated to the cultural arts and resources East of the River
