Cindy’s family has lived in DC for generations. Most of her childhood memories were within the District. Prior to finding Mi Casa, Cindy was searching for a place for her family that was wheelchair accessible for her son. This was an impossible task in apartment buildings across DC that may have been ill-kept or built prior to ADA. Cindy thought she was going to have to live with this uncertainty and consistent transition. But then she found Mi Casa. Now Cindy lives in a deeply affordable house that is fully-accessible and solar-powered.

Much like Cindy, Kesley and Andrea felt disheartened about looking for a home that would fit their family. They nearly gave up on finding a house that would feel like a home. They began to ask themselves, “Are we going to have to move out of DC?”

This was a hard question to even ask since their kids were born and raised in DC. They didn’t want to uproot their children’s lives, but they didn’t know what else to do. Then Kesley and Andrea learned about Mi Casa. Now, they own a four bedroom home, one of Mi Casa’s developments. They have a space that is theirs where their children have the space to thrive.
